Tropical Flowers in Placencia, Belize…and One Famous Dog
On our most recent Belize journey, there wasn’t much time between downpours for photographic excursions. Most days I didn’t venture too far beyond Bubba’s garden, a few steps from our cozy veranda. Here’s what I found there, and in other gardens around the village:

Beautiful! Many of those flowers are hibiscus, of which there are varieties that grow in temperate climates, including my state of Minnesota. I have one planted next to my pond in my backyard and every summer it produces waves of dinner plate sized white blooms with pink centers that only last a day each. Hibiscus makes great tea, too, though I’ve never made it myself.
